An important step in Selling Hunting or Recreation Land I have spent a lot of time over the years looking at land for Sellers, Buyers, Agents and Myself and I think that I have learned a few things about what makes a great recreation parcel. For us Foresters we are used to coming to a parcel, knowing where the boundaries are and how to access it without little amenities like well-marked boundaries and clear tra...

If you need a break and want to spend about an hour or two relaxing and reading a good book, I recommend "The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop," by Fannie Flagg, author of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop is the story about Bud Threadgoode, the kid with the one arm, son of Ruth and Aunt Idgie. You'll be introduced to Bud once again but now he's married and has a child named Ruth. If you liked Fried Green Tomatoes, I think you'll love the sequel. It's an easy, engaging, and enjoyable story with some new characters added to the story about Whistle Stop. Below are some teasers written from the book that just might make you sit back and realize, we call come from somewhere. Maybe a small town with a place like 'The Whistle Stop Cafe,' and a cook named ...

I don’t necessarily want to be a “boss”. I’m happy to be my own boss and work independently but in complete concert with others. But there are times when being more assertive, more “boss-like” is definitely warranted. And I’ll pretty much read anything related to improving communications.  The premise of the article is that when you’re in charge, or aspire to talk like someone in control, you want to make sure your ideas get heard and are understood. The author spoke to career experts and linguists about what “boss” language sounds like and what phrases can undermine good management. Here’s what they said:  Instead of “No problem/No worries,” try “I’d be pleased to” or “Certainly”  When we use “No worries” or “No problem” as I often do, the phrase can actually have the opposite effect. ...

Thanks, Rocky for coming up with a challenge about cooking!    Not being much of a cook (a great griller though), I had this recipe I have cooked this past month, and BOY was it delicious.   Who wants to make a pot roast in the summer when it is SO HOT in the oven?    But, in the crockpot, it makes your whole house smell SO good.        Also, there are not many ingredients, so very easy to throw together the night before into the crockpot, and move it to cook the next morning.   Mississippi Pot Roast   Ingredients -  1 (3-4 pounds) Chuck Roast 1 packet ranch dressing mix 1 packet au jus gravy mix /4 cup butter 4-5 pepperoncini peppers   Instructions -  Place roast in the slow cooker and sprinkle the top with the ranch dressing mix and the au jus mix.  Place peppers on top of the mixe...

Anyone can be a giver & in fact is. Use a scale of 1-10 to rate by. Also, there is a -negative scale of 1-10 to use for those that are stuck either deliberately, by trickery, defect or perhaps ignorance? I am reminded that no one got to where they are withhout the help of others. Giving is mandatory. Where you are on the postive scale should be of interest to you. The negative scale should catch attention too for yor sakeTHE -NEGATIVE SCALEBeing a minus 1 through 10 on anything is a take-away from your character or personal stock. Not wanting to share, care, help or assist causes the person doing this to travel in the wrong direction. This eventually leads to a dead-end existence here & in the times to come. Why go the wrong way?THE + POSITIVE SCALEJust to be on a plus one scale is off ...
