I recently wrote about the effect on superior customer service by local restaurant staff.  As I plowed through some high profile projects in the last 30 days I saw the results of my efforts at doing everything possible to please my clients. Here are my thoughts on this subject.Ten things you can do to ensure customer satisfaction and a user experience that will be the best advertising you can buy and keep them coming back for more!1.  Explain upfront EXACTLY what your services will entail and make sure your client understands what you will and will not do.  Contract terms need to be pointed out if you suspect they will not get the ins and outs.  Don't gloss over anything that you know will create a 'situation'.2.  Explain constantly WHAT you are doing and WHY.  Why it needs to be done, h...

Dog Days of Summer ActiveRain Challenge! Summer is winding down and it's kind of hard to believe it's August 1st already! Where does the time go?  I don't know! Do you! Anyway...back to the challenge after a bit of pondering thanks to Michael Jacobs! For years, Gary and I have dreamed up new and different ideas/themes for events and/or campaign's to  to share with our clients and sphere of influence.  Last year we hosted our 1st annual Dog Days of Summer Wine Tasting!  Where this idea came from, I don't know. But once we started researching ideas lat summer we were surprised and delighted that it's quite a popular wine tasting event held all over the country in August. Who knew!  Your challenge is to dream up your own version of a Dog Days of Summer event and/or campaign for your spher...

Recently, my post "Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down," was featured by ActiveRain. Last night, I received a comment from John Henry along with the soundtrack to Gladiator on his very own youtube video for:  Golf Legend Payne Stewart's Fabled Italian Mansion designed by Luxury Home Architect in Florida. With Sir John Henry's permission to post his video, I invite you to follow the link above for inspiration with my hope to keep your own personal dreams flowing in the Rain as large as Italy, the Mediterranean Sea, and even greater than the state of Texas.  When people share the gift of who they are, all members benefit. There are movies, such as Gladiator, and soundtracks from some of the greatest movies by musicians who spend their entire lives creating the sound of music that stirs your emotion...

YouTube Thursdays - Organize with Outlines and Storyboards  We shared our thoughts about niche video marketing last week. This week, we are sharing a rough outline with you for our Multi-Generational Housing niche. Akin to a storyboard with illustrations, camera angles, etc, this outline is always the first step of our video production process. If you're also working on a niche video to share with potential clients, we recommend an outline to get things started. The final product may change and once we do the actual filming, it may change again. Don't ever be afraid to let things unfold organically. Go with the flow!  Here's our intial outline. Remember, we are going for the emotional hook (authentically) and the benefits of sharing a household. Both are triggers for our target demograp...

August 13 is Chinese Valentine's Day, Daughter’s DayChinese Valentine's Day or Daughter's Day is a holiday celebrated in, and originating in, China. It comes from a Chinese legend that has been handed down for thousands of years. There are several variations of this legend. It is celebrated on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month.Although there are many versions of the tale, they all agree it began in heaven.Once upon a time, the Goddess of Heaven (also known as the Queen of Heaven) had seven beautiful, young daughters. While bathing one day in a pristine river on earth, they left their clothes on the shore.Along came a herder of oxen named "Niu Lang".  He took their clothes to see what they would do. The daughters decided that the youngest, and most beautiful daughter, named Zhi Nü shoul...

Son and Daughter Day is simple and easy to celebrate. It's a day set aside to spend time with your children-you son(s) and daughter(s). Son and Daughter Day is always observed on August 11.When asked, almost any parent will admit their sons and/or daughters are the most important people in their lives (after their spouses, of course). What makes a son or daughter successful? The best chance for our children's future success is when children see good behavior exhibited by their role models at home. The children will more naturally "do as you do" than follow instructions to "do as I say." Spending time enjoying your son and daughter shows them how much they mean to you just for being themselves. As the famous, late Mr. Fred Rodgers would say, "I like you for being you."After all, your son ...

August 19 has been celebrated annually as National Aviation Day since 1939. Today marks the 80th Annual Celebration of National Aviation Day.  President Franklin D. Roosevelt made a presidential proclamation to celebrate National Aviation Day on August 19. That date was chosen as it is the birth date of civil aviation pioneer Orville Wright.  With his brother Wilbur Wright, Orville Wright created and "flew" what's considered the first aircraft. NASA states that National Aviation Day is the "biggest day in flight" each year. As part of the celebration, NASA offers a free downloadable e-book "High Flyers Alphabet Activity Book " designed for children in grades K-2.  Local libraries have additional free, downloadable aeronautics e-books from NASA. Use this NASA e-books link for free downl...

Who doesn't love watermelon? When the summer weather is hot, hot, hot in San Jose, Calif., residents should stay hydrated.  August 3 is National Watermelon Day. Did you know...eating watermelon is actually more hydrating than drinking water? It's true. Watermelon's juices are more easily absorbed by the body, so enjoy and celebrate Watermelon Day.Not only does it feel refreshing and hydrate the body, it just tastes great! While most of my time is spent helping Silicon Valley home sellers and buyers, I definitely intend to enjoy a watermelon break today in San Jose. Thanks for reading "Watermelon Day is August 3! Enjoy Some Juicy Delight!"                  #August3, #August3WatermelonDay, #WatermelonDay, #Aug3, #Aug3WatermelonDay, #Watermelon

There are many things that can get under your skin as a real estate agent. However, few are more frustrating than paying for or working for a new lead only to have them flat out ignore your calls!   Am I right?!   Many times you could be using a lead generation strategy that has been proven over and over again but you still aren’t getting anywhere.   If you are like most real estate agents, this will leave you scratching your head and wondering what you are doing wrong or if it is just a fluke.   Regardless of the reason or reasons that your leads refuse to call you back, one thing you can’t deny is that you can’t continue to purchase or farm leads that will never go anywhere!   So how do you figure out where the fault lies and fix the problem? You read every last word of today’s post! ...

This is a true story. The above photo shows a cast iron staircase similar to the one discussed in today's blog but it is not the actual one.  Twenty-six years ago I owned a group of four historic Victorian buildings in the Capitol Hill area of Denver which included a massive two story carriage house. The prior owner attached a two story cast iron staircase to the front side of the carriage house. Our German Shepard Gertie would regularly sit on the second floor rear landing observing what was going on in the world outside of her yard. While the gate kept her inside the yard, she knew her job was to sit as sentry. Every spring we would fill wood boxes with trailing flowers which would cascade over the rails. Each morning before going to work I would drag the garden hose up the stairs to ...

No matter where you are in your real estate career, you probably feel like there is too much to do and not enough time to get it all done.   It can be very challenging to prioritize your current clients over marketing yourself in order to keep that pipeline full.   However, what many real estate agents fail to realize is that some of the most time-consuming marketing tasks can actually be completely automated!   Just imagine how fast your business could grow if: You knew when and how to reach your ideal real estate clients. You could stop looking for leads and have them come to you. Your online presence could be optimized.   What would you do with all of those extra commissions?    Take more vacations? Grow your team? Spend more time with your family?   You can do all of that and more w...
