What I Learned This Week at ActiveRain-August 26 to September 1, 2018. I learn something new every day at ActiveRain! With this series, I try to highlight one post per day that gave me that lightbulb moment. It could be something techie, something about Real Estate or the other professions that I never knew, about a place, or about a person. Or, it could be a post that made me sit up and take notice!  August 26: Terry Records 8 Instagram Accounts for When You Need to Stage and Decorate.Instagram satisfies the visual need we have. Switching brokerages – or opening your own – is a lot of work. Your information needs to be updated with the real estate commission, MLS, your E&O provider, and on and on. At the same time: You have to have new business cards and other marketing materials printed. You have to update the pages on your website where the brokerage was mentioned. You have to let everyone on your contact lists know about the change – possibly by writing a good letter telling them how the change will benefit them. In all of that busy-ness, don’t forget about your social media sites. First, there are the sites you use regularly, like Active Rain. You’ll probably remember to update them. But then there are the ones where you may have started to set up a profile, but never finished. Or, you finished, but you hav...

(Success Real Estate)
I have been somewhat off the grid for the last month or so & I let a major anniversary slip by me as I am now at the benchmark date of September 1st which marks the 13 year 6 month anniversary of when I first became a realtor on March 1, 2005.  And also on August 30th I celebrated my 71st birthday - another milestone for me. But the far more important anniversary for me was July 26th  just past, my 11 year anniversary of joining Success Real Estate which is one of the premier real estate companies on Boston's South Shore with the highest standards & where I found my natural home in real estate & have never desired to go elsewhere. Would recommend Success to anyone starting a career in real estate.

Every month, we’ve looked at property in Southwest Florida that you can buy right now. Why is this so important? While many real estate agents like to talk about trends or hypothetical properties, nothing beats looking at real homes available to you today. This helps to put your home buying decision into context, as you browse photos and information. Of course, as your resource for real estate in SWFL, I love connecting you with these properties. And with online sites like Zillow, we can browse them together before we decide which ones we’ll look at. This month, we have several properties that are worth a look. Cozy Paradise in the Heart of Cape CoralFor Cape Coral, the heart of the city is an area that is often sought-after. In fact, even the North Cape is climbing in value year-over-...

Most homebuyers want to buy their houses early in the year. Those who have kids want to wait until the school year ends before they change their address and school district. Others want to take advantage of choosing from a wide selection of homes that are simultaneously placed in the market. In the world of real estate, buyers have a shift in thinking right after Labor Day. To help you with your real estate decisions, here are some reasons you should sell or purchase a home during the fall season:          You can improve your home’s look in time for the buyers. Since there is no hurry for you to sell your home during the fall, you can take a closer look at it and make some improvements. A fresh splash of paint on the outside walls of your house and some new landscaping usually attracts...

These are the situations where a home sale/purchase can get tricky and the importance of having solid and experienced representation becomes crucial for both the seller and the buyer:  . In a fast moving Sellers market one of the concerns that people have is...they could put their house on the market...upsizing or downsizing...or just moving for another reason...BUT....where will they go ? OR if they find the purrrrrfect house and have not closed on their house...but they have an offer...how does that all work when they write an offer ?      From a Sellers perspective ....what will they miss in terms of other offers IF they accept one with a home sale contingency ?      It is more important than ever in markets like this to be working with an experienced real estate agent AND a qualifie...

We all love a bargain but it's rare to truly find one on over the counter medications, vitamins, and supplements. I've been very fortunate to discover a drug store "rummage sale" that is put on occassionally by a distributer her in Minot ND. Here is a sample, this is what I purchased today. This distributer carries everything a drug store would so me purchase many other products like toiletries and gifts, all priced as well as the suppliments you see above. These sales are not scheduled in advanced, you need to watch the Minot Daily News want ads BUT once you attend one you can sign-up for emails to get alerts in the future. Over the years I'm sure I've saved a thousand dollars or more and I've improved my health because of it as well.

Two types of purple striped eggplants were among the delights at the Santa Barbara Farmers Market in Santa Barbara this morning.  The long striped version pictured above.  Our friends in Napa grew these, and they are delicious sautéed or roasted on the grill.Their cousins are bigger and darker purple and are perfect for the grill or the oven. These are our favorite tomatoes for making a fresh tomato sauce.  We mince a couple of cloves of garlic, lightly sautéed in a combination of butter and olive oil, halve the tomatoes and add them to the skillet with salt, pepper and a bit of dry red chili peppers to taste.  Then to thicken the sauce as the tomatoes melt, we add a quarter cup of white wine.  When it is ready, we add fresh basil and serve on spaghetti squash, zoodles or pasta with grat...

Lesson time. When a defendant files a notice of objection to a foreclosure sale, it is between the defendant and the plaintiff. In the past, when an objection to the sale has been filed, I, the winning third party bidder, have not gone to the hearing.Thursday I got a lesson. The judge noticed that no notice had been given to the winning third party bidder, regarding the hearing.I was well aware of the objection, because I wanted the certificate of title and I was anxiously awaiting the hearing to determine if I was going to get the property. After waiting 3 weeks for the hearing the judge postponed the hearing to allow the defendant to serve notice to me, the winning third party bidder. It seems like the judge rewarded the defendant for failing to do what the defendant is required to do....g...
