If you've been in the Rain any length of time you realize this community is fairly fluid.  Some of us have been here for years and years, others are brand new, and others come and go, and then...well some leave and never come back.  But the phrase "gone but not forgotten" applies if they were active members and built relationships while they were here. And while Facebook might not have really been much of a thing when we first joined ActiveRain, it's now an integral part of staying in touch with people.  The result is I have hundreds of agents from across the US and Canada that I know I can reach out to, long after they've written their last ActiveRain post. For me, ActiveRain is the root source of all my referrals.  I'm not brand brainwashed loyal when it comes to finding the best agent...

~ Facebook Marketing Tips ~It was the best of times, it is still the best of times. Yes, I butchered that famous Charles Dickens quote from A Tale of Two Cities but it really is the best time to kickstart our Facebook marketing. The start of a new year brings with it plenty of promise, hope, and even a pinch of sassiness. Let's all take our FB presence out of neutral and go pickup those consumers who are looking for a local real estate ride!Did You Know...according to WordStream via Statista, 53% of U.S. residents use Facebook more than once a day. So...if half of our local populace is on FB each day, it sounds like a great way to share quality content, engage with others, and capture a bunch of real estate leads. No door knocking required either.  ;-) Based off consumer recollection of...

Blog Jumpstart - 2018Meet Someone New - a la Debbie ReynoldsDebbie Reynolds sponsored the Ringing and Singing Contest in 2017.  Perhaps she will offer her concept again in 2018 or maybe some other ActiveRain member will take the as the Ringing and Singing Sponsor.   Meanwhile, here is a chance to do something similar:Call someone you never "met" before - maybe someone whose posts you read or someone from a different part of the US or a different part of Canada from where you live. Meeting others in ActiveRain is a good way to make friendships, establish business relationships and, perhaps, even prepare a bridge towards future referrals.  Guidelines - easy as 1-2-3!1.  Choose someone new to you - never spoken on the phone before. Maybe     in a different field - if you are an inspector ...

"I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas A. EdisonQuote #5 from Dr. Joe Tichio's book. I love this gift I got. Greatest Inspirational Quotes: 365 days to more Happiness, Success, and Motivation  So, coincidentally, I have decided that doing a quote of the day on video was turning out to be quite a bore.  It has helped some people but I felt in my heart of hearts it was BORING.  In trying to get better and better with video, I committed to doing one video per day.  This will be quite funny a year from now to see how far I have traveled.  Here's what I figured out:  I will take the topic of the chapter I am reading from the book I read each day (Think and Grow Rich) and overlay it with the quote of the day to see what is created.I'm excited about it and...

It was January 27, 2009 when I made my first blog post.  Reading Mike Cooper's first post today I decided to look mine up.  My how things have changed.  While I've learned a lot about blogs this one was off the cuff post. Hope you enjoy  It all began several years ago when my youngest son wanted something called a computer and wanted to get on something called the internet.  Being the kind of I know everything type of person I am I thought (yea this is just one of those fad things that will pass in a couple of months).  Well goes to show you what I know. Now they have this thing called ActiveRain and Facebook. I've been invited by some people at my office to join and truly been thinking about it.  It wasn't until what I would call my closest friend at the office invited me to join that ...

Make a Resolution Like You Mean It!  by Grant Schneider   I enjoyed reading Grant's blog.  Instead of commenting on the post, I decided to blog.  Most individuals start out with a bang on setting their resolutions for the new year.  I like using the gym as an example.  The first week in January the gyms are packed.  The second week the gyms are packed.  The third week the gym is back to normal.  People have convinced themselves with a legitimate excuse on “why” now is not the time.  That lets me know your “why” can be very powerful and can be used from a negative standpoint.    Even on a positive note, I believe the “WHY” is important because it's the motivator.  The "why" will not keep you unless you have the other ingredients to go along with it.  We know “why” we should work out.  O...

(ImpresaModular.com)
Think about the last time you purchased a new car. You went to the car dealer and described the features you wanted. They went through the options, found a car they had that was the closest to what you requested, and let you take a test drive. If you had very specific requirements you could order the car with the exact options you wanted (maybe) and get it in about four to six weeks. If you were the typical car buyer, at no time in this conversation did you even question how the car was assembled, ask if the braking system was built to a defined industry standard, or question how much horsepower the engine produced. You had an expectation of performance and quality and if you had any problems – that is what the warranty was for. This scenario isn’t the same when building a custom home.T...
