Alaska - Pilot's Choice - Glacier LandingSeptember 2003First Landing - Halfway up the GlacierThis was the summer of 2003.  Rick had an unplanned week of vacation, so this 7-day Princess cruise had balcony rooms available, so we decided to see Alaska.  One of the excursions was a "Pilot's Choice" helicopter ride to where the glaciers are formed.  One of my favorite Images - Blue IceSome ice was melting over this long summer, which carved out mini-streams.  The ice appears blue (like the ocean.)In glaciers, the pressure causes the air bubbles to be squeezed out, increasing the density of the compacted ice. The pressurized ice absorbs other colors more efficiently than blue.  My favorite home away from home Time sure seems to be flying by as we are in the year 2021, wow where did time go?And as time keeps flying by it brings me closer & closer to spending 4-5 months during spring, summer & fall in beautiful Alaska.Still working in the Bay Area with all this Covid-19 crap and there has been many times when I just wanted to hang it up, retire and get away from the rat race. I am going to give it 1 maybe 2 years and I'm out of here and on my way to The Last Frontier. Sure I visit my properties in Alaska 4 weeks every year but it's just not enough time.
