Left Albufiera this morning, and drove through several small towns, and then through Faro. Still very difficult to find parking in these cities, so just drove through. Went to Tavira, and THOUGHT my hotel was near the water, but NOPE. Not sure what I was doing, but this one is clear up in the hills in rural Portugal! In the far distance you can see the ocean.
The Quinta Do Marco is located at 18 acres, where they have fruit and olive trees and gardens to grow some of the food they cook. They have a pool, baby pool and hot tub along with the pool bar. There is a small spa (with sauna and Turkish bath). You can make an appointment for a massage also. They also have some farm animals (donkeys, sheep, chickens, geese, peacocks) for the kids to get a kick out of. I found the turtle pond, which had two babies, very cool! I am not close to much, and VERY thankful they have good Internet here! I will be starting my 2nd book while on vacation and relaxing!
I keep forgetting to add this --- it has been interesting seeing all that Portugal is doing to Go Green. I have seen acres and acres of solar panels and atop the mountains they have wind turbines. In the hotels, they don't leave the lights on in the hallways, just when you open a door, they come on. Also, haven't stayed in a room with real coffee, they leave INSTANT coffee. There are coffee machines in the area for breakfast. They have coffee pots you heat up water in.
I am very thankful I bought this converter hub for European plugs, it has been such a blessing. Three things can plug in, my computer is mostly always plugged, also the charger for the batteries for my Nikon, plus my curling iron. There are 4 USB hugs, and they are usually full. When Laura goes to Italy next year, I will let her borrow it.
By the way -- gas it anywhere from 1.75 to 2.00 per LITRE, and was a bit more than at home - to fill the tank was about €55. This car gets pretty good gas mileage, I have only filled up twice. BTW, hard to fill up when all the instructions are in Portuguese. I was lucky, and someone came over to help me the first time. 😋 It is weird they don't have squeegees to clean the window, and mine is full of bugs. Not sure how they clean the windshield.
When I was checking in, especially enjoyed this sign - just hope they have some good red wine too.
Tomorrow off to Seville and explore a bit of Spain.
