Now here in Arizona Sonoran desert areas surrounding Phoenix and Scottsdale we do not have the delicate tropical flower blooms of Hawaii and Florida. (Above photo of Red Bougainvillea which thrives in the desert heat in my yard)
However, one truly appreciates a desert flowering plant. We get the sometimes week long blooms off a cactus or the so call century plants (often every 5 to 9 years) from certain varieties of Yucca or Agave.
However, I truly appreciate the entire Summer long blooms of select plants that can take the direct sunlight of the Summer months from May through October with temperatures in excess of 100 degree (F).
I have three of these Summer Long blooming plants shown here from pictures in my own yard including the Red Bougainvillea which is drought tolerant, takes full sun grows as a bush and is very colorful.

Caesalpinia pulcherrima
The Mexican Bird of Paradise is an upright woody shrub with flowers ranging in color (red, orange, yellow) throughout the year. They can reach up to 10 feet tall, so pruning recommended to keep a tighter foliage shape. Caesalpinia is drought tolerant and will adapt to many soilsand can be planted in full sun. Attracts hummingbirds.

Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans)
Yellow bells (Tecoma stans) are a fast-growing evergreen shrub with slender, gray-brown branches and clusters of bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers. Green, toothed, lace-shaped leaves offer a beautiful backdrop for the shrub's vibrant blooms, which attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
Also known as esperanza or yellow elder, these plants produce long, green seedpods after flowering that act as a food source for small animals.
