The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

Ray did a lot of research for us last year to replace a perfectly good printer because HP was sending (multiple times DAILY), a full-page ad for HP ink - PRINTING it! We tried everything to stop the printer bandit but, ultimately took it out behind the shed and shot it!

The replacement he found is an Epson inkjet ET-3850. It is WONDERFUL! In the photo below, the ink levels are after ONE YEAR of using the printer.

I have a Brother black and white laser printer (still running strong, a true workhorse), after 11 years and counting. Model HL-5370DW. I doubt they still make that model yet I still get Brother Support!

I also have a Brother color laser printer. Model HL-L8260CDW.

I can print everything on both, including envelopes, on all types of paper. The settings are on the printers.

Black and White uses a black cartridge

The color has four cartridges. They all last a very long time!

I have an EPSON Workforce WF-7840 and it has excellent output. Had too many problems with HP, especially when trying to communicate with their overseas technicians.

Depending on your use you might want to farm out your color work.  Black and white laser is still best for contracts but color is always  more expensive.   Most color printers use their color ink for even black and white work.  What type of medium, ie paper, card stock also affects the decision.
I have two printers one for words, another inkjet for stuff needing color output.  so the answer to your question is laser for black and white and ink jet for color

Wow I rarely use a printer for contracts or anything else for that matter.  We've still got the big one we've had for quite a few years and it's not even in my office.  Gary uses it a bit.  Sorry I can't help you with this one.

I will watch this thread. I have an Epson Workforce 845 all-in-one and it is adequate but I could use a new one myself for exactly the same, minus the eBay LOL

I buy refurbished PCs and printers on eBay from reputable sellers.
I use a very old HP 1320 LaserJet printer, bought for $50. Works fine. I buy the extra-capacity toner cartridges when needed.
Older printers were built more rugged with heavy-duty parts. Newer printers have a lot of cheaper parts that wear out.

I don't have a need for a color printer. But, I have an older model Canon inkjet multi-function printer that I use only for a scanner and copier.
In dry Colorado, the inkjet cartridges dry out too quickly, even with light usage. So, it was a waste.

I follow a green business policy, and am listed in green business directories (free backlinks to boost SEO), so I try to recycle, re-purpose, re-use, and minimize use of energy and resources, including paper.

Where possible, I would just create a color PDF file, and email that to a recipient, or post it on my website for online viewing, without printing.

If I needed a color printer I would buy an Epson EcoTank with large refillable ink supertanks. Recommended by Leo Laporte, The Tech Guy, on his syndicated radio show.

I would look for Black Friday sales, only 2 months away.

Reviews on each, when you visit them, will greatly assist you in making a decisions. I use an HP inkjet from Costco. Had it for years plus! It comes through on all levels of needs. Have no cost considerations on ink either when using. Why? I am reminded of owning a luxury car & then not able to afford the maintenance. One goes with the other.

Excellent question Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate. I need a new printer but do not need high volume being retired. My Epson Workforce 2650 has served me well for well over 10 years but it is a bit or an ink hog.

I have a brother color laser printer. I don't print a lot of color on it but I've had it for a very long time. I got an inkjet for my office and didn't like it as much. My husband is an IT guy so I usually defer to him. I believe he found this printer refurbished.

I'm with Debe Maxwell, CRS on this one. I was able to delete that harassing HP commercial.  I would go for the Epson this time around.

Still would rather have a laser but can't afford one for home use.

Chisel and stone... you get good at it and waste less time. But there is a learning curve. What if everything was virtual and stored online like docusign documents. Truly paperless is coming. The Epson sounds like a good choice with bigger color ink wells.

I like HP. I rarely have trouble with them. I really have no need for a laser printer so I buy inkjets. It's the cost of the OEM ink that is a killer since the other off-brand inks I've tried have caused problems with the print head

I've used laser printers for more years than I can count. Last one I purchased was an HP Color Laser Jet Pro. I paid $200 for it and it's worked like a charm.

Since I print most of my marketing material I believe the cost per page, quality and print speed are paramount and only consider laser, never inkjet for those reasons.  The pestering from HP has never been an issue since I DECLINE reminding to refill or auto refill offered at setup and have never had that problem. Never receive email or unwanted crap showing up on my printer.

I bought a new color laser HP (Color Laser Jet Pro M255dw) recently but haven't installed it yet, waiting for the cartridges in my 10-12 year old HP Laser Jet CP1525nw (color) to run out first. I also have an HP Office Jet Pro 9015e color inkjet printer that does a nice print job but the cartridges are expensive and don't last long.

When I was looking, I compared the cost of laser cartridges and number of pages you get vs. the cost of inkjet and the number of pages and before deciding on the laser. The new HP laser was under $400 which I thought was reasonable for a color laser. If you can wait for a sale, you can probably get a great deal on whichever you decide.

I have never in over 20 years had a problem with any HP printer BUT, whatever you do, do not sign up for their "Instant Ink" program. It was a fiasco and took me months to cancel, long story. I never had the problem Debe Maxwell, CRS had, you may need to go into your settings and change something to prevent that from happening.

My husband bought an Epson, forget the model, and was very unhappy with it so went back to HP. That was a couple years ago so maybe they are better now.

I read a ton of reviews before buying the new HP color laser
