Friday Fun…What Room Gets Your Attention?

I definitely head to the kitchen and make sure it is open to the family room so when everyone is over we are all together. I look at the floorplan and master bed/bath to see if it's to my liking!

I go into the family room and look how my couch and screen will set up to watch Mets and Jets games (warning...do not reply or comment about Aaron Rodgers)....bahahahaha

Kathy Streib Very good question! I do cook and the kitchen is important to me but I also think the main bedroom is essential as closet space is so important. 

Kathy, I too look for a great kitchen, amount of storage and the pantry, but 2nd is the master bathroom.   This home has an awesome storage system in the garage.

The kitchen is very important for Chef Dolores and the family room is where we spend a lot of time. We are also accustomed to a very nice home office.

My sense is the type of home and how the home sits on the property. Usually the kitchen but sometimes I gravitate to the great room and even the primary suite.

A kitchen is definitely the gathering place for many people. We redid ours many years ago to reflect a light, bright space and I love cooking and creating there, Kathy!

Hello Kathy and I agree that would be the first room I would look for next time around.  

I head towards the view room which is generally in my area the living room.  I love to see what kind view, mountains, golf course, landscaping, pool, patios the home has....especially if I'm looking for us.  Kitchen would be second and important as well. I always knew I could remodel a kitchen if I didn't like it or it wasn't functional.  Now I don't feel like doing that anymore - that takes too long!!

Kathy for me it is always the kitchen that gets my attention first, second is the bathrooms, and the third is not a room, but walk-in closets are also high on my list.

Definitely the kitchen, then all the other rooms and of course the outside!

I pay attention to the kitchen most.  But, I also am interested in the layout of the house, how it flows.

I have always looked at the house and the first impression I get when I walk through the front door 🙂

Kathy Streib  I look at the layout and the potential, now Diane looks at the overall feel and look to a home... we compromise on the location and that trumps over everything else, Endre

p.s.: I have cooked in Boston in a kitchen that was a converted closet.... I also cooked in a larger kitchen with a great eating area.... but if you know how to cook it does not matter how ostentatious the kitchen is, Endre

Hmm, I am fairly easy to please and don't necessarily care more about one room over another, but the overall layout is what I focus on the most.

Honestly...it's not just one room for me. It is the whole package...inside and outside. It is rare to find the perfect home. My top two rooms, however, would be the kitchen and the master.

It's always interesting to see what buyers focus on in this searches, and it varies so much. 

For me, it's the kitchen - so many memories are built around life in the kitchen, especially with friends and family.
