This week keeps on giving, giving and giving! Guess we won the lottery!
First we got our water bill and it was sky high. Oh great, another big water leak! The plumbers came out first thing Thursday morning and they located the leak at the main water line and shut the water off immediately. They thought they had the right spot to dig to fix the pipes and 5 hours later... they still hadn't found it. Man, now they had to shift course and tear out part of our huge bougainvillea trees and go under it. 3 hours later they thought they had the problem solved. Back on went the water - with no luck. They worked until 8:30 that night to finally get the water hooked back up and said they'd come back the next day to fill in the hole. Fine with us. We were thankful to have water back on! And for these dedicated hard working guys!
About 8 the next morning both Gary and I noticed the water was flooding all over the place. OMG. Now what we both said? We shut off the water immediately!! And the first thing we both thought - thank goodness this didn't happen in the middle of the night as we would have flooded out. The plumbers were there within an hour and once again spent the better part of the day FINALLY getting the new pipes to fit properly. Water was back on by about 5:30 that evening. Thankful - YES! They'll be back on Monday to fill in all the holes and tidy up the yard. So far so good!
On Saturday our landscaper called us and said he could come on Sunday to take out the dead palm tress. Since we have quarterly bulk trash pick up coming on Monday we wanted to make sure those trees were down.
Back story on the trees......
We originally had 12 Palm tress planted in the back yard in 2005 or so, at the same time we re-did the pool and landscaping. In 2020 we had a very, very hot August and lost 8 of our trees. That was very sad to see. This August was another hot month. Out of the 4 trees still standing only 2 made it through alive. We'll see how the other two survive - hopefully good. Since the first hot August in 2020 we let all the other trees/plants grow up really tall and large and that left the yard looking gorgeous and full of blooms all year long!! And we enjoy 'the look' a whole lot more now!
FYI it is normal for it be quite hot in Phoenix during August!
The moral of our last few crazy days...
We're Thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives and how grateful we feel each and every day to live in our own little oasis!
