Friday Flags at Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT We are into a colorful spring and for 100 senior golfers Wednesday was a special day as the Senior Leage at Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT began play for the season.I started with a new partner as one reaches an age where the body doesn't work the way it sed to, oh well. We meshed well and won our first match with enough point to be .5 out of first. Way to go.As I looked up to the pro shop from the first tee, the flag seemed to be flying a little special as well. Friday Flags:  A Torrington CT LandmarkI had a client ask me to show a property in Torrington CT, which is in Litchfield County in CT.  Normally I don't work that far north but as she pleaded I agreed and took the drive.Getting off the highway I took a glance at the center of town and one image seemed to dominate the landscape. I made a note to get back there once the showing was over.The granite clocktower had our flag waving in the breeze.  It was impossible to not notice.  The rest of the structure was just as majestic.This is Trinity Episcopal church in the center of Torrington, CT. Friday Flags at the Gazebo Watertown CT for Veteran's DayJust across the road from the Town Hall Annex in Watertown CT is a small island on which is a gazebo.  It is always seasonally decorated.As I drove by, it was appropriate that I take a photo of the Gazebo especially as it was so close to the November 11 Veteran's Day Holiday.It was a bright day and the red maples in the background made the flags and the Gazebo seem brighter.November 11 was originally Armistice Day, and the end of World War I. Friday Flags A Double Shot in Watertown CTWhile walking towards the Pro Shop at Crestbrook Park so I could get a cart to take my progression photos, I had to stop to appreciate the 2 flags  in front of me.The closer flag is on the snack shack where golfers top as they are making the turn to the second nine.In full view is the flagpole in front of the pro shop/With a little patience, I was rewarded with a breeze that unfurled the pole flag so I could capture both. The only issue being the bright sun in the foreground that created the haze.While it isn't my best capture, I am still happy to see a flag in the breeze. Litchfield County in CT is Past Peak With ColorsAs we progress through the fall season, we get mesmerized by the colors on the hillsides and also the roadways while doing our jobs.I have been offering 2 areas of colors, coincidently both at golf courses as the expanses are easier to capture.Getting into November our colors are mostly faded and in clusters on the ground.The scenery at Crestbrook Park in Watertown was exceptionally colorful this fall.  The 2nd hole on October 12 was just starting to turn,It was prettier on October 19,It was apparent that the majority of color had passed and especially the following week, October 26.Today, it is well into the onset of the somber, colorless days of winter in advance of the snow that will certainly come.We had a warm fall day, and the sky wa...

Litchfield County in CT is Past PeakOn my regular Wednesday morning visit to Watertown Ct, I again went by the golf course at Crestbrook park to take a look at the progression of the colors. The day was grey and cloudy and what color that was still left was subdued.The top of the second hole looking across the valley as seen on October 12.Then the week after that, October 19And on October 26 we are really not seeing a lot of colorAnd the 6th fairway with the same progression:I would suspect that as we are into cooler temps and windy days that next week the colors should be all gone.Litchfield County in CT is Past Peak

Friday Flags  A Somber Flurry in Watertown CTIt's actually a sad day throughout Connecticut as today is the funeral for the 2 police officers from Bristol that were ambushed this week.  No shootings make sense, but this was bizarre and totally without sense or remorse.I was getting my foliage photos and saw the flag, even at Half-mast still waving proudly. Wordless Wednesday Litchfield County in CT is in Falling ColorOn my Wednesday morning visit to Watertown Ct, I again went by the golf course at park to take a look at the progression of the colors. Last week, the colors appeared to be in peak show and this week the hues are more subdued.The top of the secnd hole looking across the valley was right last week:And within a week, a lot of the colors have fallen to the ground.The 6th fairway was similar from week to week:By next week there will be very little color left on the trees.
