Minot's City Hall, page 2

Yesterday I posted about the first floor of City Hall and focused on the BIG spenders, the City Council. You may have noticed that the offices were numbered in the 200's. That is because as you enter the front door as pictured above it is the ground floor from 3rd Ave. There is an entrance from 2nd Ave BUT although much of that floor is City Hall you can NOT enter the City Hall from that door.

The 2nd floor

If you walk the open stairway to the 2nd floor you can not ignore the beauty created by the skylight above. At the top of the steps you will find the following offices.

Above is the North lobby, with the tables it appears to be a meeting area. The South lobby appears to be more of a lounge. (next picture)

Most noticeable on this floor is the City Clerks Office.

There are several other offices on this floor, most notably the City Attorney's office. Minot has had a bad run with City Attorneys but that is another blog post.

The only comment here is I don't know who is a tool of who between the Council and the City Manager. I have had good and poor interactions with past City Managers but I have yet to meet the current one.

I am walking you through the new City Hall with pictures and a little
commentary in 3 parts with each part a separate floor of the building.

This and the following post are part of an entry into a blogging
challenge put forth by Dr. Paula McDonald and Kathy Streib titled Let's
Get Serious About Writing a Blog Series.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... at the end of the day, it would appear that City Hall in Minot will make an excellent first impression.

That is true for sure Nina Hollander, Broker it is a beautiful building. If only we had good leadership to run the City it would all be hunky dory.

Hannah Williams it took me all month to figure out what I would do a series of three on and then I realize the solution was/is just across the street from my office.

It is ultra modern Ed (Edward) Silva, 203-206-0754 and I admit it is far better then the old location but I do question the move when our City is deeply in debt and the old building did work.

Hello Bob, looks like they spend your money great on this building.  Unreal what cities spend on their city halls.

I agree Will Hamm . The "old" City hall was not that old and it was functional. I believe the hart of the decision was that each department head wanted more space for them personally, not necessarily for their department.

I like big windows and skylights that deliver a lot of natural light into a building!

Endre Barath, Jr. we have big spenders in City Hall. The new City Hall is their temple. When the oil boom first hit Western ND there were projections that Minot would be in the middle of it and Minot would grow like Houston did... from very little to a major hub. Obviously it did not happen. Under Trump it was "drill baby drill" but the current administration is very anti oil and it has really hurt the industry and the American public.

Brian England there is no denying that it is a beautiful building. I have not been in all the offices but I believe most of them have some natural light but I think many of the interior offices have no natural light.
