Lots of excellent advice packed into this post, Marte, especially the advice not to keep doing what causes certain problems in the first place.

Hi Marte- I love this quote. When we have a problem it never hurts to get a fresh set of eyes, and that includes our own. Step back, take a breath. Call in a colleague or friend. 

Marte Cliff - your post reminded me of a real estate agent I looked up to when I first got started in the business. She was on the Real Estate Board and always started her presentations with, "You have to stop your stinking thinking!" Otherwise, you will never succeed. 

Thank you for such great advice. 

And sometimes one's ego is the reason we engage in the same type of thinking. No one wants to admit he or she is wrong.

Asking for help in brainstorming might be one way to solve a problem that doesn't have an evident solution!

Life if full of problems. It is by solving these problems that we show who we really are. It is by solving these problems that we grow.

That reminds me of my favorite quote "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results".

Everything that was invented ever in the history of history,start it out as a thought. People have to realize this.

It is always good to step back to get another perspective.

Great thought provoking post!  Reading your first comment, "I can't change other people."   And that sets the tone.  We can only change what we can change, but we can encourage people to do their best work.  As a committee chair for a fund raiser, I'm shifting gears to keep positive energy flowing so as not to stop people from getting burned out.  They aren't following my agenda, but they are volunteering.  So I'm going to start my meeting next month with a way that I'm shifting to encourage positivity.  We'll see! 

There's lots of wisdom in Einstein's quote, and your thoughtful post, Marte. The approach and attitude we take toward our problem solving can make such a difference in the outcome. Nothing worse than creating a bigger issue.
