There can be so many obstacles and challenges in the real estate industry, that I'm not sure where to start...
This is for day 20 of The 30-Day Real Estate Social Media Challenge:
“Share a challenge or obstacle that you faced or overcame as a real estate agent or real estate-related industry professional.”
Ok, just a few random thoughts...
That buyer who decided to purchase a car right before closing escrow.
The seller who thinks they know more than me about pricing their home.
The termite report that came in at $20,000 because of termites and beetles.
The tenant that decided not to move out of the house within the time they had agreed to.
The seller that decided at the last minute they really didn't want to sell.
But, these all actually were fairly easy to overcome...yes, it took good negotiating skills and experience to get through them. None of these things were actually things I could control. I could just step in and find solutions to them that worked for everyone.
I think the biggest challenge I have faced during my real estate career is building a team. I learned so much about this from education I have received at Kellers Williams Realty and through masterminding with my fellow agents. But unfortunately we all make mistakes sometimes and we learn from trial and error. I remember hiring an assistant that interviewed great, her former employer had glowing things to say about her and everything checked out, but it wasn't 2 weeks before I found her asleep at her desk! And yes, she had a lot of work to do that wasn't getting done! She obviously did not last long!
The problem was I took these things personally. I felt like when one of my employees or buyer's agents didn't work out, it was because I didn't train them well enough. It took me a while to figure out that some people are just not cut out for real estate. I have been blessed with having some great teams over the years and currently I have a team that I am very proud of.
