This Week…Thank You to ManyThis was our first week of temperatures below 100 degrees…though not by much. We’ve been teased by rain but we’re still waiting. Police officers know that each time they put on their uniform, they are taking on risks to protect others. Mike ParsonToday is Thank a Policeman Day. Our family has a retired police officer and others who are currently serving in law enforcement. Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties.Abraham Lincoln Many in Law Enforcement work extra jobs to help support their families. They have missed holidays and special dinners. If you have the chance, thank a police officer. Even a Thank you smile says a lot!!! You will never know how much it has cost my generat...

Furry Friends Friday - You Asked for It - Gabby Before & AfterFor those with dogs who require grooming, you will understand the trepidation and sheer stress that goes into that first grooming appointment. While we have been using this groomer our last 3 dogs, this new one was a furry mess before I got brave enough to take her in! Gabby is SO small and I worried about her not doing well at the groomer. She had been a challenge since day-1 to bathe, brush and detangle. She doesn't like it one little bit! She gleefully met the staff at the groomer's shop but, her excitement quickly waned, according to the groomer! First off, she hated being bathed! Yep, we knew that. Then, she hated the dryer - so they had to let her air dry...and that was a LOT of fur to air dry!  And, of course, just as ...

Friday Flags in Southington CT Spring Lake VillageWhile showing a client a condo in Spring Lake Village earlier this week, I had to pass the community center.Adjacent to the lake where the flag poles and there was just a small breeze, and the flags were barely moving.I didn't have time to stop but was determined to come back before I left the complex.  On the swing back, I parked and walked closer and just stood and whispered for a breeze that would give me the shot I wanted. Within minutes, my wish was granted, and our flag waved a thank you to me for waiting. The buyer is still deciding but most likely will come back as Spring Lake Village is one of the finer 55+ communities in the area. There are over 600 units, but they are so spread out as to not feel congested. I'm sure the residen...

Friday Fun…What Room Gets Your Attention? It’s Friday so time for some fun. When I look at a home to buy, the kitchen is where I head.   While I stand in the kitchen, I imagine myself preparing a meal there. I take in the countertops and cabinets. The layout of the work zones is essential as well, and of course, I want to know where and how large the pantry is.  Years ago, a co-worker who did not cook, headed straight to the Master Bathroom when she searched for her new home.  Larry, on the other hand, passes through the kitchen but besides looking at the structure (retired builder) he focuses on the garage. How many cars and his “toys” will it hold? So for some Friday Fun…when you’re looking at a home to buy or to list, what’s the first room you head to and why??

Last week my best bets landed here and they were not great. So bad, in fact, I contemplated giving up on football and applying to be the world's only official Taylor Swift reporter, a real job for which you can now apply. I have an advantage on other possible applicants here because if T Swift does end up dating Travis Kelce, most other Swifties applying for this gig won't have spent time covering Kelce for the NFL. What does the application look like for this job by the way? Do you have to list your favorite song? This will sound weirdly f--king beautiful but mine is "Snow on the Beach" ... and it's not that close. Do you blog about bizarre Taylor Swift-related fan activities? Are you supposed to weave in T Swift-related lyrics into your writing? Do you get credentialed to every sing...

Let Me Tell You All A Story About A Man Named Doc! Let me tell you a story about a man name Doc!  I love the Wild West legends and my favorite is the notorious Doc Holliday!  He had a bad rap to say the least!  But what I love about him is he was a southern gentleman!   John Henry Holliday (August 14, 1851 – November 8, 1887), better known as Doc Holliday, was an American gambler, gunfighter, and dentist. A close friend and associate of lawman Wyatt Earp, Holliday is best known for his role in the events leading up to and following the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. He developed a reputation as having killed more than a dozen men in various altercations, but modern researchers have concluded that, contrary to popular myth-making, Holliday killed only one to three men...

Nerdin Gardens: From My Head Tomatoes! From early spring to mid fall, we are constantly providing care for all plant material in Nerdin Gardens, especially ensuring that all processes are in place for optimum production. Much work goes into all aspects of back yard gardening. Prior knowledge kicks in when problems present but asking or seeking help is a natural reflex as well. Along with the fall season, a sense of relief, mixed with loss occurs as we both, once again, ready the garden for next spring's plantings. A matter of pulling plant material from all raised garden beds, turning off the automatic drip systems, covering each one with shade cloth to prevent weeds from taking over. Moving all decorations inside, preventing further wear. The growing season is almost over and I feel yo...

Food is a great source of motivation for both man and beast alike.Real Estate was far from my first occupation and I hate to admit it but Real Estate ranked pretty low on my motivational scale. That being said even lower was my attempt to follow in my dad's footsteps as a Life Insurance agent. I did find some motivational inspiration however when my dad gave me a book by Joe Gandolfo, the only life insurance agent to sell a billion dollars of life insurance in a single year (and that was back in the 60's). His book was The Thrill Of Selling.Believe it or not one of the most motivational jobs I had was working at a surplus hardware store (now a small chain) named Mac's. At that time Mac's worked with several Hutterite communities who paid with beef and chicken for their purchases. Mac's ...
