Today's e-mail brought an uplifting motivational quote - and a frightening invitation.
The invitation was to sign up to receive 85,000 motivational messages - subliminally, through my computer.
At first glance, that sounds fine. The idea is that if you said yes to this offer, your mind would be receiving positive messages all day long, and before long you'd be enjoying good health, happiness, and prosperity.
But wait a minute - who are these people and how do you know their intent is good? How do you know they don't have an evil ulterior motive?
Since they're subliminal, those messages could tell you anything, and you would never know!
They might tell to vote for someone you think is awful. They could tell you to slash your neighbor's tires. They might tell you to have a sex-change operation - or to do that to your 4-year-old child. They could tell you to assassinate someone.
The messages might also tell you to purchase things you don't want and can't afford or to cheat on your spouse.
No thanks!
I'm all for motivational quotes and messages, but I think we had all better stick with choosing our own - and finding our own ways of delivering them to ourselves.
What do you think??
