Speechless Sundays - The Old Old and the New
You know, I typed the title and then realized that my sweet little Gracie will be 4 years old next month!! I cannot BELIEVE it! We were SO lucky that the adoption agency visited us in January of 2020, just prior to the world shutting down. The Foster Mom visited with Gracie and Jack in-tow, hoping that one of them would be adopted that day. We surprised them and took them both...and never once looked back. They have been such a joy!
Anyway, I digress...
My Dad sold his 6,000 SF home and moved to a 1,700 SF home in FL this summer. He had a multitude of fun furnishings and artwork throughout his home; I was the lucky recipient of several pieces. This piece is nearly 2 CENTURIES old and is far more spectacular in person than it is in this photo.
I have loved this piece since I was a child; it was at my maternal grandparent's home. I never truly appreciated the details in it until I was an adult. I do know that it is a Turkish piece and is filled with mother of pearl inlay. Perhaps it is so special to me because it is a family heirloom but, I think it's spectacular!
And, of course, any box or piece of furniture, whether it's meant to be sat in or not, Gracie finds...and plants herself there. I think she loves the view from this chair, although I can't imagine that it's comfortable at all for her!
Happy Sunday!
