I am waiting for a delivery. I need to be at home packing, but I'm at my office waiting for UPS and USPS because I have a new replacement mouse that should be coming today. I paid extra. It says it's coming today and I was excited for the Fedex truck, but no, that was my brother's package.
But with all the gifts piled up and no wrapping started yet, I was thinking about my favorite gift of every Christmas since 2000. Someday I hope Cooper and MJ will enjoy those gifts. I hope my daughter will enjoy them too. I hope his sons will read them some day. But for now, they are just mine.
The first one came in the mail. He was in California for Christmas in 2000. All the others have been rolled up and tied with a ribbon and stuck in our Christmas tree. If I didn't get anything else for Christmas, this would be enough.
Every year my Donald (who is the best husband ever) writes me a love letter for Christmas. It's on beautiful parchment stationery and filled with his thoughts for the year coming to a close. He's called me his guiding star. So not only am I so very thankful for Donald and every little thing he does for me all through out the year, but I'm thankful for the time and love he spends writing that letter each year. My thoughts are to sit down one day and write a book surrounding his letters and talking about my thoughts about his thoughts for the year.
I think that our children and grandchildren could read the letters and my thoughts about our life and the letters and have a depth of understanding of best love story that ever existed. There was no glass slipper, there was no poison apple, there was no tower I was locked away in, but there was a magical first kiss and certainly a happily ever after.
