We live in an apartment in the sky in downtown Chicago where gardens are rare. That said many do have flower pots on there balconies. This pot sits in the center of our south balcony with excellent views of downtown Chicago especially in the evening.
Interesting timing for Debe Maxwell, CRS to issue a May challenge that "April showers bring May flowers. My wife had just brought up the idea of fleeing the city for a home in the suburbs with room for a garden in the yard. Instead we went to Home Depot to procure the flowers you see in the photo above. By the way they just bloomed recently.
The season began with a small space outside the front door of our building getting an early bloom of tulips, which were beautiful but very short lived. But the idea of tulips were on my mind.
One morning, outside the building where my grandson lives, waiting for him to drive him to preschool, I caught a quick photo of the tulips plants in the center of the motor courtyard.
While not quite as pretty as the ones by our building they were in much better shape and since I originally thought of tulips when the challenge was presented I am throwing these in.
We will be enduring another spring season next year of limited flowers before we can escape to the suburbs and plant our own garden. And, rest assured we will be no competition for those who have previously posted their entries. I have a black thumb and the wife does not claim to be much better.
The challenge will be to improve our talents in that area and have some fun while doing it.
So thank you Debe Maxwell, CRS for the "April showers brings May Flowers and allowing the wife and I the opportunity to start dreaming about our garden of the future.
