This Week…They Say It’s Fall!

A quick look at the calendar told me that today is the beginning of Fall!  Someone forgot to tell Texas!

Autumn teaches us the beauty of letting go. Growth requires release—it’s what the trees do
Ka’ala, @alohakaala

As I write this, the temperatures here are in the high 90s with an even higher feels-like temp.

It will be interesting to see what impact our unusually high temps this summer and virtually no rain will have on the few fall colors we have.

Autumn leaves don't fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar

Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing

The months of September and October are fun for sports fans. We have baseball leading up to the World Series and college and professional football.

I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.
Dodinsky

While I love warm weather, I am definitely ready for cooler temps. I’m ready to wear warm-up pants and sloppy shirts!  (Really!)

I’m ready to make a big pot of chili or smoke some pork ribs. I can’t wait to make red beans and rice!

Never jump in a pile of leaves with a wet sucker.

Have a Fall-icious Weekend!

Good morning Kathy. Fall is a great time to view nature as the colors change. I like that. What I don't like is the days getting shorter. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin I know what you mean. I love it when it's 7 pm and still light out.

Candice A. Donofrio I'm not sure we get a true fall here but I will take the cooler weather. I give up...what is evap season?

Evaporative cooler season! It's still warm here but the evap works perfect in fall and spring - we can shut off the AC and open up the house!

Fall in FL (at least early Fall) is simply summer-lite. Kids in school, high 80s temps and shorter days. Also more chance of storms coming from Africa.

Oh yes Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I remember my Florida fall/winter seasons. Mainly it was about trying to get a table at a restaurant along Atlantic Avenue! LOL

We are getting the signs. I did the lawn yesterday and it was clean and this morning, there are leaves covering the grass.

Happy kind of fall in Texas Kathy!  It actually does feel like fall here in AZ!  We were out earlier sprucing up the patio and getting all the furniture in place for our upcoming Fall Roundup -  Howdy Cowboys & Cowgirls!   Plus it's overcast and cloudy today so it feels like fall too!  I love it!

Kathy, can't really say what the weather in Denver is like, but in Porto, it was a high of 70, and 72% humidity, so it felt really hot.

Hi Kathy,

Happy Autumn!  Those pesky high temps in Texas will subside to bring in some beautiful fall weather.  We are already enjoying cooler temps today.  It is only 77º right now and it is mid afternoon. I will miss our late evening swims, even if the pool is heated it is too chilly for me.

In the East Valley, we know it is fall not by the leaves changing colors, but by the license plates changing colors, haha.

We have had lows in the 50's at night for 2 weeks so we definitely have leaves falling and trees starting the color display.

All of my birds, except the hummingbirds have disappeared!

We finally have had reasonable temps in the 80s and nights in the mid to upper 60s. Love having the windows open, not paying for AC, and accepting the dust will return in 2 hours.

Kathy:

Our temps are far more moderate here, which they normally are anyhow - low 70s, clear and sunny today. We never even turned our AC on this year - yet. And the days are noticeably getting shorter.

We are starting to see cooler nights and someleaves are changing and starting to drop (yes, that happens here, too, just not as dramatically as many places).  The pumpkin patches are open, and there are abundant pumpkins at the stores.

Love Ka'ala's quote.

Jeff

Although, our temps have become more comfortable, I haven't seen the color of leaves changing much.  I suspect in a couple weeks, I'll see more signs.
