Good morning, Brian... to be honest, I'm not a fan of using equity in one's home for pay for "stuff." I saw too many people who did that prior to the Great Recession and then were under water when the recession hit and they had to short sale their homes.

Many have used their home as an ATM for trips, cars, boats etc. If one uses it to make improvements on their home or in come cases consolidate debt it can make sense.

Good morning, Dorie Dillard Austin TX I have certainly harvested equity from my own home over the years!  I didn't use it for anything, I have just saved it figuring that I can earn a greater return with the money than the interest I am paying for it, haha.  It has become my reserve fund and my home continues to build up even more equity, so much more is gained!
