A Marriage of Excellent Golf and Scenic Splendor
For those of you who enjoy golf and appreciate natural beauty, the Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course in Chelan, Washington is a destination that should be on your radar. I have traveled all over the U.S. and many parts of the world and Bear Mountain Ranch is among my absolute favorites. Located just 35 miles north of Wenatchee (where I live) it is open to the public.  This course offers a high-quality experience that caters to a wide range of golfers, with 5 sets of tee boxes on every hole.

Nationally Recognized
Founded in 2005, Bear Mountain Ranch quickly gained attention for its excellence. It was recognized as one of the top six new golf courses in the United States by PGA Professionals. By 2014, it had already been rated as the 10th best course in Washington State.

Distracting Views
The course is uniquely situated to take advantage of the natural rolling terrain and plateaus, providing golfers with impressive panoramic views. The design truly integrates the natural landscape, adding extra enjoyment to your game, regardless of the score. One of the biggest challenges at Bear Mountain is keeping your eye on the ball as it flies off into the distance. Why? Because your eyes want to wander to the amazing view from every hole.

Wildlife Encounters
One of the bonus fun features of this course is the opportunity to encounter wildlife. While you play, you might spot deer or other animals roaming around. In spite of the name, I don't think there have been any bear sightings. You do need to stay alert, though, because rattlesnakes do live in the area, so don't go wandering off into the rough to find your ball.

Open Seasonally
Because of it's elevation, Bear Mountain opens a little later than some of the other courses in central Washington. It covers 350 acres at an elevation of about 2,000 feet above sea level. The course opening varies but is usually open from April to the end of October. However, regardless of when it opens, it is worth waiting for a game at Bear Mountain.

All Skill Levels Welcome
Regardless of your experience level, Bear Mountain Ranch is a treat to play. As mentioned above, with five sets of tees per hole, the course is adaptable to suit players of varying skill levels, from beginners to experts. Some people think this is a tough course and should only be played by above average or expert players. Not true, but if you let your ego get the best of you and don't play the appropriate tee boxes for your skill level, you WILL be sorry.

If you're looking for a high-quality golf experience combined with natural beauty, Bear Mountain Ranch Golf Course is a great option. It's a place where both your love for the game and your appreciation for nature can be fulfilled.

And, as I wrote in a post on February 24, 2019:
"If you make a morning tee time, you can go wine tasting and have dinner at one of the many dining options in the area.  The town of Chelan is chock full of restaurant choices (and some 30 wineries in the area)." Here is a link to that entire post.

Don't Take My Word For It: Outside Testimonials
I found this course on accident when looking at courses near Gamble Sands. It was the best golf accident ever. Not only is Lake Chelan one of the best lakes in the country/ world, Bear Mountain has captured my heart as an avid golfer. The most memorable holes are the ones with views of Lake Chelan in the background such as the downhill #4 par 4. The customer service was top notch. Von always takes care of us. The snack bar makes awesome sandwiches!   -huisean

This is is a spectacular place to play for the good and above average golfer. The views were breathtaking and the holes were all completely different from each other making it more fun to play. Excellent use of the mountainous terrain. The greens were also in great shape. the white tees were plenty long enough for me and most golfers. I will make a special trip tp come back in the fall.  -GaryJoe23

The views are stunning.  Perched atop Lake Chelan, this is a great example of what the great PNW has to offer.  The PNW is so beautiful because only rare places in the world can you see Snow Capped White Mountains, Ultra Blue Lakes, Gorgeous Blue Skies, and Soothing Green Foliage all blended together.  Bear Mountain sits on a mountain and you feel on top of it all.Conditions are always top notch, fast beautiful greens, lush fairways, clean tee boxes.
