Zoom Call  9.26.23  Paddy Deighan Using AI the Right Way

Paddy Deighan Using AI the Right WayThe Zoom Call this week was entertainingly presented by ActiveRain member Paddy Deighan, a real estate lawyer and a highly qualified individual as offered with some of the conversation he presented.

Paddy started his presentation as a continuation of the AI Challenge in June.

He expressed that AI tends to be greatly misunderstood, as evidenced, from his experiences with other areas in which he is involved.

He spoke of a conversation with a person he called the Godfather of AI, Dr Kelly of IBM who manages 15,000 PhD's at IBM.

AI has really been a factor with us for over 60 years, with Hal 9000 in 2001 Space Odyssey.

He expressed that AI is greatly misunderstood and misused and requested that someone on the call that has used AI and discuss their experiences.

He spoke of doing a Bard search on a medical legal issue with which he was familiar. He put the query on Bard, which is a Google platform and AI platform, and it gave the wrong answer. He put the same search on Google, and it gave the right answer. Both of which were on Google sites.

It is his belief that the best use of AI would be marketing and not research as it can be flawed. For marketing he uses ChatGPT in combination with AI as it can be adapted to the tone we want.

He suggested starting with inquires as it can be flawed. He suggested just using it to practice on small subjects to get acquainted and start slow. making different requests and doing it in different ways will get different results.

He cautioned on doing searches on areas that are not familiar as it can give wrong results and we would not know the response is correct.

He spoke of the challenge to AI with ethics and to never put a client's name in a search as it is on the Internet and can be brought up later buy AI in any manner it can.  He gave an example of having Mr. and Mrs. John Doe in a search for luxury condos in Las Vegas, and how a search by someone else for condos in the same town can bring up parts of the original search naming those clients.

He mentioned how he had gotten a call from a woman crying about her boyfriend being arrested for a drug violation. Just to check out the system, he put the name in a search and all that came out was grossly inaccurate, had he done a formal search and used what it presented he would not only have been in violation of ethics but quite possibly sued.

https://activerain.com/profile/deigs1A question was presented as to the manner in which people are using AI for blog posts and how apparent it is that the writing is not original. He offered that while this is not proper, that AI can also be toned to better reflect the personality of the writer. There are prompts that can be used with filters to be used and as it might be more appropriate.

In addition, it was offered that somewhere within the post it should be mentioned as a disclaimer that AI was used for a portion of the post. In addition, if quoting part of an article from another source, that source should be identified as the author.

He spoke of way to determine plagiarism, and specifically mentioned that he will place a word with a completely different font within the first 2 paragraphs of his work, and if he encounters an article similarly to what he had posted, he looks for that difference.

He also cautioned the use of music as background for YouTube Videos as the most probable way of having a video taken down. The content may be original, but no permission would have been gotten to use the music.

He also discussed the cautions for people that post and how it is possible using a brief 20 second vocal segment with vocal biomarkers to detect a person's current health. This might include issues that are unknown to the person. It can detect anxiety, stress, COPD, depression and it's all down accurately with AI.

One attendee mentioned that she does use AI for some blogs, but calls that personality AIme, for the distinction. It is something that is identified and is something she clearly defines.

Paddy was asked if there were any AI sites he would recommend. He mentioned a combination of ChatGPT and OpenAI, with a note that if one is being used, it may prompt to use the other. especially as they each have different tools available.

He gave an example of using AI to identify a plant. He took a photo of a plant he had and asked AI to identify it, which it did but also gave information on the problem with that specific plant based on the photo taken.

Paddy Deighan had mentioned early on how AI is being used as a dating site. A call attendee asked for some clarification/confirmation which he did. Then he was asked by the same caller if he would come back on another call to more properly explain some additional uses and cautions, which he did, and it will be posted in the future. Tentatively the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, costumes optional.

It was another highly informational call and Paddy Deighan shared a lot of knowledge and tips.

Ed, Paddy's presentation raised some red flags for me about AI, and I was surprised that AI has been around for at least 60 years.  I look forward to his next presentation.
