Motivational Monday…Stop Waiting for Your Competition to Trip
The other day, the analysts were discussing my team which was on the brink of being #1 in their division.
Fans that we are, Larry and I have been keeping tabs on the teams that were #1 and #3. We’ve gone as far as to catch some of their games, rooting for them to lose.
However, as the baseball analysts so aptly noted…while our team is aware of the scores of the competing teams, their focus is on what they need to do to win. They cannot wait and hope that their competitors lose.
Moving right along to how the heck this compares to real estate or anything else…
Whether competing or trying to get through life, the key is to turn your focus on the things over which you have control.
For example, at our recent Zoom call, Dorie Dillard outlined how she was determined to become the “Go to” agent in Canyon Creek.
She didn’t wait for the predominant agent in her community to falter. She focused on her own plan. (read about it in Ed Silva’s Zoom recap.)
We cannot control someone’s actions, plans, or thoughts. What we can control is what we do….how we react…what we think.
Often, our actions may change the behavior of others.
A flower does not think of competing with
the flower next to it. It just blooms.
Zen Shin
Don’t compare yourself to others.
There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it’s their time.
